"The objective of this project was to design a 406 MHz Personal Locator Beacon for use with the COSPAS/SARSAT Search and Rescue system, and deliver 60 Beacons and an equal number of spare batteries for a Field Trial in the Canadian North. The beacons had to be small, lightweight and durable such that they could be conveniently carried by individuals on trips to remote locations"--page 1.
