"This list of the names of the settlements and natural features of the island of Newfoundland was prepared in the Geographical Branch for use in government agencies, and is designed as a guide to the location of places on the island. It was compiled from a map entitled "10-mile Map of Newfoundland", published by the Department of Natural Resources, Newfoundland in 1941. The spelling or all names used in this list is taken directly from this map"--Introduction.
