"Recreation developments in the shorezone have often had very undesirable impacts when viewed from the environmental and social points of view. This paper reviews the theoretical underpinnings of such developments and proposes a novel theoretical framework in which particular proposals may be placed in order to help identify the impacts they would cause and the expected spatial extent of these impacts"--Abstract.
