"The major objective of the Canadian Workshop on Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) was to initiate a broad discussion on the concept of ISWM with representatives of organisations involved with the management of solid waste. Specifically, the two day workshop was used to obtain an indication of how the concept of ISWM was viewed from the private sector and different levels of government, and ultimately to provide guidance on enhancing the dissemination of information within Canada on ISWM issues. The workshop involved approximately 45 participants from three different provinces and a variety of national and regional organisations. A plenary session of keynote speakers provided the stimulus for the ensuing discussions"--Executive summary, page 1.
