Field epizootiological studies of Great Lakes coho salmon were made, and on increasing frequency of occurrence of thyroid hyperplasia (goiter) was found. Epizootiological studies strongly suggest that extrinsic environmental factors coupled with the low iodine environment are involved in the etiology, etc. of the disease.
