Two test runs were performed with datasets from the Canadian Pacific groundfish longline and trawl fisheries. An extended manual validation process was also developed and tested using a portion of the longline dataset. The automated process quickly and accurately identified errors in 5% of longline events and 7% of trawl events, and corrected a smaller proportion. The manual validation exercise successfully corrected almost all remaining errors, though it required significant effort.
