Tier one standards : generalized habitat standards for ecozones within agricultural regions in Canada / prepared and published by Environment Canada ; [written by M. McPherson, C. Nielsen and K. Proudluck].: En3-7/4-8E-PDF
"The guiding purpose of the NAESI habitat based biodiversity standards is to determine the critical patterns of land-cover that will ensure the continued supply of ecological goods and services, while conserving ecosystems, species, and genetic diversity typical of a region. These biodiversity standards are defined by the habitat needs of wildlife species, but will ultimately benefit humans as well, through the preservation of natural areas, ecological services, and healthy working landscapes"--Page 8.
