"Following the coming into force of the Cannabis Act (Act) on October 17, 2018, Health Canada continues to gather information as a means to assess the impact and effectiveness of control measures set out in the Act and associated Cannabis Regulations. These control measures include, among others, prohibited promotional activities, strict requirements related to packaging and labelling of cannabis products, and certain product restrictions. Control measures aim to protect public health and public safety, including protecting young persons and others from inducements to use cannabis and enhancing public awareness of the health risks associated with cannabis use"--Background and research methodology, page 1.
