"The objective of the Phase B contract was to develop a satellite concept to provide communications to mobile terminals and to develop expertise in 800 MHz payload technology. The M-SAT system will provide communications between mobile/transportable terminals, base stations and gateway stations connected to the switched telephone network"--Introduction, page 1.
