"As part of the scientific review of the Southampton Island Ecologically and Biologically Significant Area (SI EBSA), a series of species-specific data found within the EBSA was compiled based on prior research in the area. For improved access to this valuable information, this data has been summarized and the contents are found within this report. Taxa and aquatic species lists that occur, or potentially occur, within the SI EBSA are shown in tables and figures, and are based on an extensive literature review summarized in Loewen et al. 2020. The SI EBSA was reviewed by scientific and local experts at a Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) in December 2018, and all associated publications (Research Document, Proceedings and Science Advisory Report) are being used to support the identification by Regional Inuit Associations in Nunavut and other stakeholders of a potential Area of Interest (AOI) to become a Marine Protected Area"--Abstract, page vi.
