Potential impact of U.S. DBS services on Canada / authors: Laurie Edwards, Peter Lyman, Kalba Bowen Associates, Tim Denton ; Contractor: Nordicity Group Ltd.: Co24-3/1-83-001E-PDF
"This study analyzes the potential economic impact of American DBS on Canadian broadcasting, with a view to identifying technical and policy options available to Canada. Because DBS is a future service, such analysis depends on the development of workable assumptions concerning the probable impact of different kinds of information/entertainment services in the domestic market. It also depends on assumptions concerning the short and medium term evolution of existing and planned Canadian services (eg, pay television, satellite services to remote and/or underserved communities). Finally, it requires scenarios for both US DBS development and the environment which will obtain for their introduction/spillover into Canada"--Executive summary, page 1.
