"The Automotive and Surface Transportation (AST) Research Centre supports the advanced manufacturing and ground transportation sectors to identify, develop and apply relevant science and technology that will ensure Canada’s continued prosperity through revolutions in these sectors. It was established in 2013-14 when NRC merged the automotive portfolio of the Industrial Materials Institute (IMI) and the Centre for Surface Transportation Technology (CSTT).
