Snow disposal in Whitehorse : chemical characterization and disposal alternatives / Doug Kittle.: En40-926/1979E-PDF

"Initially, this study was undertaken in an attempt to assess the impact of snow disposal on the Yukon River water quality; however, it has since evolved to include a brief review of the components considered as contaminants of waste snow in southern urban centres and, with this information, an assessment of the Whitehorse situation in respect of the limited data which was collected as part of the study. A recommendation of snow disposal practices based on the least environmentally damaging method on a long-term basis here in Whitehorse is presented"--Introduction, page 2.
