520 | |a"During 1970-1971, the authors undertook a study to provide empirical data about the factors which advance and obstruct Canadian entrepreneurship. The population examined in this study consisted of 47 small companies, relatively newly established ventures founded by technologically-oriented entrepreneurs, which had received government assistance. Some 10 years have passed since the foregoing study was conducted. The underlying purpose of this study is to return to the original 47 firms interviewed in order to determine their present state of operations; specifically, to identify the survivors from the failures. Firms that survived are examined and divided into marginal and successful survivors.
