The canopy is primarily trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides), sometimes with balsam poplar (P. balsamifera) as an associate. White spruce (Picea glauca) and paper birch (Betula papyrifera) are occasionally present. Canopy cover is usually moderately closed but can vary from open to closed"--Page 1.
