"This study analyzes the operating capacity of alternative farm machinery systems in field operations on the Canadian Prairies. The assessment is made in economic terms, but is based on the technical variables of machine performance, biological tolerances, and weather effects that exist in actual field conditions. The general aim is to assess the machinery system, and hence the level of investment, that is best suited to the range of crop acreages found on different farms in specified locations"--Foreword, page [ix].
