Making representative democracy work : the views of Canadians / André Blais and Elisabeth Gidengil.: Z1-1989/2-41-17E-PDF
"To supplement what it heard at its public hearings and in written submissions, the Commission conducted a number of public opinion surveys to assess citizen attitudes regarding electoral reform. In this volume, the principal researchers present extensive analysis and interpretation of the survey data. They examine public opinion on a series of issues that are central to the democratic process, comparing the findings with previous surveys where data are available. They also analyse the findings in the light of democratic theory. Because many of the issues are abstract and have not been the subject of recent public debate, the analysis pays careful attention to the firmness with which opinions are held"--Preface.
