"The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between education and economic achievement. If this relationship can be established, it will be interesting in itself for a number of reasons; but for the particular purpose of this study, attention must be more narrowly focused on the role of education in explaining the relative achievement in commerce and industry of Canadians of different language groups"--Chapter I, Introduction.
