Spatial and temporal distribution and abundance of Franklin's gull and other priority colonial waterbirds in the Prairie Provinces / by Gerard Beyersbergen & Beverly Gingras.: CW66-696/2006E-PDF

"The Franklin's Gull, Larus pipixcan, has been identified in the Northern Prairie and Parkland Waterbird Conservation Plan (NPPWCP) as a species of "High Concern". More than 75% of the Franklin's Gull breeding distribution is thought to occur in the Canadian Prairie Provinces but very little is known about historic or current population sizes, trends, nesting sites, and local or landscape-level habitat requirements within this area. However, it is believed that habitat loss and habitat degradation are serious threats to Franklin's Gull"--Introduction, page 1.
