"In anticipation of development of a medium draft harbour in McKinley Bay to support future oil and gas production in the Beaufort Sea, a study to monitor the abundance and distribution of birds in McKinley Bay was initiated in 1981 (Scott-Brown et al. 1981) and continued in 1982 and 1983. Emphasis was placed on determining the natural annual fluctuation in numbers of moulting diving ducks. In 1982 and 1983, Hutchison Bay was also surveyed as a control"--Summary, page i.
