The existence and exercise of corporate power : a case study of MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. / by R. Schwindt, Simon Fraser University.: Z1-1975/1-41-15E-PDF
"The subject of this study, MacMillan Bloedel, Ltd., was the object of considerable, though not negative, public interest as a result of two unfortunate events. In 1975, the firm experienced losses for the first time in its history. The veil shrouding the inner-workings of the firm's hierarchy was partially rent as pressure was brought to bear upon the chairman and the president, culminating in their joint resignation in March, 1976. Additionally the founder and driving force of the firm, H.R. MacMillan died in February of 1976. While he had not been active in the company for the past ten years, his legacy in the form of corporate strategy is very much alive. His passing, with the subsequent public testimonials, has brought the history of the firm and its present role in British Columbia very much before the public view"--The Issues and the Setting, page 2.
