Optimization of water quality monitoring in the Yukon River Basin / Paul. H. Whitfield.: En36-532/2E-PDF
"A method for determining optimum sampling frequencies for the determination of long term trends is described. This method uses the following approach: using data collected at regular intervals determine the coherence of that series, and the redundancy of that series. An optimized sampling frequency maximizes the coherence of the series while minimizing the amount of redundant data gathered. The theoretical basis for the approach and the application to data collected in the Yukon River Basin Study is described"--Abstract.
