Enhanced biofiltration of toxic organics in off-gas streams.: En36-534/9284E-PDF
"Improper gasoline and solvent handling practices in the past have led to the contamination of soils with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). If left untreated, these VOCs may eventually migrate and contaminate groundwater supplies. Therefore, timely and effective methods to remediate these soils are of great importance. This report focuses on the utility of using fixed populations of VOC-degrading microorganisms in a biofiltration system to destroy the VOCs. Biofiltration offers significant potential as a low cost alternative or supplement to thermal treatment or carbon adsorption"--Executive summary.
