"The provisional catch estimate of cod in the NAFO Division 4T and Sub-division 4Vn (Jan.-Apr.) in 1986 is 63,441 t. The proportion taken by Danish and Scottish seiners increased from approximately 20% of the total in 1984 and 1985 to 28% in 1986. The increase was concentrated in the second quarter. Landings of approximately 10,000 t in 1986 for the fixed gears component were the lowest in the period 1983-1986. Ageing discrepancies observed in the previous assessment were resolved and the revised age information was used in this assessment"--Abstract, page 2.
