| 520 | |a"Using Statistics Canada data, this chapter goes beyond the measure of life expectancy to describe the health of Canadian youth, defined as those aged 15 to 30 years old. Indicators of physical and mental health and substance use are presented to highlight the health of young Canadians. Comparisons with older Canadians and trends mostly over the last 20 years are provided. When possible, indicators are also examined by sex, ethnicity and household income. The health of Indigenous youth is also important. However, to put results for this population in the proper context, a full chapter will be dedicated to Indigenous youth. In March 2020, physical distancing began to be recommended and schools and businesses were closed to slow the spread of COVID-19.
