Results of the 1990 winter acoustic surveys of NAFO div. 4WX herring stocks / by U. Buerkle.: Fs70-8/90-67E-PDF

"Results of the 1990 winter acoustic herring survey are presented. An offshore survey between Country Island and the mouth of Chedabucto Bay found no herring. The index area in Chedabucto Bay was surveyed 23 times. Only 11 surveys are reported on here because the other 12 were done with a replacement transducer after the original one was lost. A calibration of the replacement transducer could not be done in time for this report. Results from the 11 surveys indicate a biomass of about 194,000 tonnes in 1990 compared to 450,000 tonnes in 1989"--Abstract, page 2.
