"This report presents the results of an evaluation of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's (ISED) contribution to the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). Created by the federal government in 1997, the CFI is a not-for-profit corporation, which strives to build Canada's capacity to undertake world class research and technology development. … The objectives of this evaluation were to assess the relevance, performance and efficiency of ISED funding to CFI in accordance with the Treasury Board Policy on Results. The evaluation was conducted by ISED's Audit and Evaluation Branch and covered the period from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2019. The evaluation employed multiple data collection methods: a document and literature review; surveys; interviews; case studies, and administrative data analyses"--Executive summary, page i.
