"Trade is an important contributor to Canada’s economy. According to Canada’s State of Trade 2020, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, trade represented nearly two-thirds of the country’s gross domestic product and supported 3.3 million domestic jobs. Since mid-March 2020, measures put in place in an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to address the pandemic’s effects have had various impacts on Canada’s trade"--Introduction, page 3.
