"According to the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (OAG), access to safe drinking water "is a long-standing issue in many First Nations communities". [The OAG] previously reported on this issue in 2005 and again in 2011 and provided recommendations to help resolve this issue. Fifteen years after [it] first examined the issue, some First Nations communities continue to experience a lack of access to safe drinking water"--Background, page 3.
