"Air pollution problems, such as smog and acid rain, result from the release of pollutants into the atmosphere. The majority of these pollutants are released through human activities, such as transportation, the burning of fuels for electricity and heating, and a variety of industrial activities. The indicators on sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3) fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and black carbon, a component of PM2.5, report emissions released through human activities"--Page 8 of 80.
