520 |a"This terrestrial salamander has a restricted Canadian range in southeastern British Columbia, which represents about 40% of the species' global distribution. It is highly dependent on moist, shaded, rocky habitats, often along fast-flowing streams and seepages scattered across the otherwise dry landscape. Specialized habitat requirements and life history, including low reproductive rate, increase the salamanders' vulnerability to habitat disturbance. New information includes increased knowledge of distribution, establishment of Wildlife Habitat Areas to mitigate logging impacts, and clarification of threats. Climate change vulnerability analyses indicate that it is highly vulnerable to increased frequency and intensity of droughts. Population trends remain unknown. The species may become Threatened if threats from various sources, including road traffic, development and maintenance, are not adequately monitored and mitigated"--Reason for designation, page iii.
