Emergency Geomatics Service activation for Turtle Mountain, Alberta InSAR monitoring / B. Lehrbass, S. Samsonov, J. Dudley, N. Svacina, H. Drouin, V. Decker, and S. Tolszczuk-Leclerc.: M103-3/64-2021E-PDF
"The Alberta Geological Survey (AGS), a branch of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), is responsible for the long-term monitoring of a potential landslide at Turtle Mountain. They provide a near real-time ground-based remote monitoring network as part of their Turtle Mountain Monitoring Program. Following the hardware failure of their ground-based InSAR monitoring system on April 8, 2020, the AER contacted the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation (CCMEO) with a request for emergency assistance to monitor Turtle Mountain for deformation using interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) with the RADARSAT Constellation Mission and RADARSAT-2. Emergency management and contingency plans were then activated until June 10, 2020, when the AER confirmed that the ground-based InSAR system had been repaired and was collecting valid data. This report summarizes the project setup and monitoring that was performed during the EGS activation"--Plain language summary, page 3.
