"There is a great deal of information available in the literature on the ”climatology” and "structure" of coastal currents in the Great Lakes during the summer stratified season, (Verber, 1966; Birchfield and Davidson, 1967; Malone, 1968 3 Csanady, 1972; Blanton,1974; Weiler, 1968, among others). Experimental data on the coastal currents during the winter season, when the lake is unstratified, are hard to come by and are usually not detailed"--Introduction.
