"The Office of the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces Ombudsman (herein referred to as the Office) has received, and continues to receive, numerous complaints from current and former Canadian Armed Forces members who are transitioning or have transitioned from the Canadian Armed Forces to the programs and services of Veterans Affairs Canada. It is in this context that this review was launched. The purpose of this review is to identify opportunities to improve service to the approximately 1,500 members who are released each year due to illness or injury"--Executive summary, page 3.
