"The terms information highway or electronic highway denote the advanced information and communications infrastructure that is essential for Canada's emerging information economy. Building on existing and planned communications networks, this infrastructure will become a "network of networks," linking Canadian homes, businesses, governments and institutions to a wide range of interactive services from entertainment, education, cultural products and social services to data banks, computers, electronic commerce, banking and business services"--Introduction, page [1].
