      <marc:subfield code="a">"The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and Infrastructure Canada (INFC), in partnership with collaborators and stakeholders are tasked with developing decision support tools, including codes, guides, and models for the design of resilient new Core Public Infrastructure (CPI) and rehabilitation and maintenance of existing CPI to ensure adequate capacity against existing climate variability, climate change, and extreme weather events. Within this effort, water/wastewater systems management has been identified as one of the most significant areas likely to be impacted by climate change through changes in temperature, precipitation, freeze/thaw cycles, etc. In an earlier NRC/INFC-funded project, the likely impact of a changing climate on the demand, hydraulic capacity and water quality in Water Distribution Systems (WDS) was described and approaches to quantify this impact were articulated. The main objective of this current project is to incorporate these impacts into the decision process on WDS operation, maintenance and renewal planning"--Executive summary, page 6.</marc:subfield>
