"This National Standard of Canada applies to two types of oxygenated gasoline, E1-E10 (“Type A”) and E11-E15 (“Type B”), to which no lead or phosphorus compounds have been added, and in which the oxygenate consists essentially of ethanol. They are intended for use in spark-ignition engines under a wide range of climatic conditions. Each type may be supplied in one of four grades which differ in anti-knock index (octane rating). Type B oxygenated gasoline in this standard is intended for use in automotive vehicles that are compatible with oxygenated gasoline containing up to 15% by volume ethanol"--Scope, page 1.
