Bacteriological surveys, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Shellfish Areas N.B. 9, 10, 11 and 12, 1973 / by C.R. Blaise and R. Legault.En42-1/5-73-1E-PDF

"Bacteriological surveys were conducted in Charlotte County, N.B. Shellfish Areas 9, 10, 11 and 12, including Little Lepreau Basin, Lepreau Harbour, New River Harbour and Pocologan Harbour, from early June to mid-September, 1973. The studies were designed to reassess the present classifications of these areas for the harvesting of shellfish, and to determine whether closed areas might be exploited provided that the shellfish underwent an approved depuration process. A total of 596 sea water samples from 95 locations, 134 stream samples from 16 stations, and 50 clam (Mya arenaria) specimens from 10 stations were collected and analysed for coliform and fecal coliform numbers using the standard 5-tube MPN method"--Abstract, page i.
