520 | 3 |a"This report details the work completed during various phases of a program to develop a Comprehensive Commercial Design Report for an Advanced Air Emissions Abatement Floatation Unit for Canadian ports. An in-depth data collection/port specification survey of five major ports in Canada substantiates the need to provide a new solution for reducing toxic emissions caused by ships at these ports. The study focuses on developing the Advanced Air Emissions Abatement Floatation Unit with a precise implementation strategy. After a detailed literature review, several promising technologies were investigated based on the technical specifications, the system's progressive development, including the selection and/or development of suitable abatement technology. The resulting data is used in the concept design for the floatation unit, as well as for the system's design specifications and cost estimations. The developed concept design of the exhaust gas cleaning system is compared with the existing cold ironing shore power technology installed in Canadian ports.
