"A properly designed, constructed and maintained storage tank that is filled with treated drinking water should be capable of providing water that is safe to drink for the full duration of time the water remains in storage and distribution. Poorly-designed water storage, lack of regular inspections, improper cleaning and repair of drinking water storage tanks can pose serious health and safety risks to users/ consumers, increasing the risk of water contamination and/or water quality deterioration during storage"--Introduction, page 2.
