"Since early 2021, higher prices for gasoline, shelter, food and consumer durables have put upward pressure on consumer inflation. Supply disruptions, coupled with strong household demand, have fuelled price growth. By mid-2022, consumer inflation had accelerated to its fastest pace in four decades, peaking at 8.1% in June. While the headline rate eased in late 2022 as gasoline prices fell, key sources of inflationary pressure, including food and shelter, showed little signs of moderating"--Context.
