"The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact in communities in Canada and around the world. As part of the Government of Canada's pandemic response, Infrastructure Canada (INFC) directed new and existing funding towards projects that support communities. This included the introduction of the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream (CVRIS), a time-limited, targeted stream under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), to build pandemic-resilient infrastructure, and support economic recovery efforts across Canada. The design of the CVRIS included a streamlined project approval process to accelerate access to funds and offer quick financial relief to ultimate recipients"--Background, page 4.
