"A study to determine the impact of major developments in Jasper National Park on surface waters was conducted in 1976. The study was jointly funded by the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs and conducted by the Water Quality Branch of the Department of Fisheries and Environment. It was determined that the bacteriological and nutrient quality of portions of the Sunwapta and Athabasca River and some of their tributaries, primarily Buck, Ripple and Sulphur Creeks has been degraded by human activities"--Abstract, page i.
