"Transport Canada has sponsored the publication of the Operating Cost of Trucks in Canada report series since 1972. The purpose of the study is to provide activity related cost estimates of operating trucks of various vehicle configurations in Canada and the United States. These cost estimates are relevant to the department in analysis where trucking plays a role. The most recent edition of the study was based on cost levels for the year 2013 and was published in 2014. The objective of the present study titled Operating Costs of Trucking is to provide estimates for the year 2017 of the operating costs of trucks. The estimates are provided primarily for a sample of case studies in each of the provincial and territorial regions in Canada. In addition, five sample international trucking corridor cases are developed comparing costs for using Canadian and U.S. based trucks"--Introduction, page 1.
