"The Correctional Officer Onboarding Program was implemented as a pilot program at Kent Institution, a maximum-security men's facility in the Pacific Region, in September 2019. The objective of the program is to support new Correctional Officers (COs) in their transition from the Correctional Services Canada's (CSC) Training Academy to the realities of working at the institution. The goals of the program include reinforcing fundamental competencies, supporting the application of skills to the correctional environment, creating a strong work relationship between the COs and a team of mentors, developing strong ethics, and establishing a review board to evaluate the performance of new COs.
