"The Eastport MPAs were designated in 2005 by regulations under Canada’s Oceans Act at the request of local stakeholders to maintain a viable population of American lobster. The community-based Advisory Committee continues to be actively involved in monitoring and the evolution of management strategies to ensure that the goals and objectives of the MPAs are met and the interests of all users are considered"--Executive summary, page [2].
