"This National Standard of Canada was developed to provide flammability requirements for soft floor coverings, including textile floor coverings, with the aim to reduce the risk of property damage, burn injuries and deaths from fires associated with these products. The standard determines the flame resistance of a soft floor covering when exposed to an ignition source (a methenamine for timed burned tablet), under defined conditions"--Introduction.
