Effects of acid precipitation on microbial populations in northern Ontario Lakes / by S.S. Rao, A.A. Jurkovic and P. Robson.: En37-664/1981E-PDF
"This report summarizes bacteriogical data collected during the survey made from May to October in the Turkey Lake Area. Water and sediment samples collected and submitted from five lakes and five streams were analyzed for total bacteria, respiring bacteria, aerobic heterotrophs, nitrogen and sulfur cycle bacteria. In addition, laboratory studies performed using acid stressed lake water and batch type fermenters, to illustrate the effects of low pH on bacterial populations and organic degradative processes are presented. Data and methodology are presented and the implication of the study are discussed"--Abstract, page i.
