"The Safety Management System (SMS) Assessment Protocol is the primary assessment reference for delegated officers. The protocol covers the components and elements of the Civil Aviation SMS model. Expectations have been developed for each element with associated questions and evaluation criteria based on the Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR). This Assessment Guide contains the master protocol. It is to be used in support of assessment activity by adding past assessment data, and current Transport Canada (TC) intelligence for any certificate holder to generate a case-specific protocol.
