"In March, 1977, the Greater Victoria Water District made application to divert water from the Leech River and Deception Gulch, two tributaries of the Sooke River, B.C. The Fisheries and Marine Service of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, expressed concern to the Water Rights Branch of the provincial Ministry of the Environment over the possible effects of such a diversion on the salmon stocks in the river. Subsequently, a study was initiated to determine the fisheries resource maintenance flow requirements for the Sooke River. This report presents the results of the study and includes a review of the fisheries resource, the hydrology and the resource maintenance flow requirements …"--Abstract.
